As a new Canadian, Sam Binder has a special affinity for immigration law. His first hand experience with the difficult and complex immigration process affords him an invaluable perspective on the issues immigrants face.

Born in 1968 in Romania, Sam received a Structural Engineering degree in 1992 from the University of Timisoara. He immigrated to Canada in 1996 and, after some deliberation, decided to apply to law school rather than pursue his engineering career. He was accepted at the University of Alberta in 1998. Sam's wife, Cristina, also an immigrant from Romania, joined him in Edmonton later that same year.

Following his graduation in 2001, Mr. Binder was delighted to accept an articling position with Snyder & Associates "as it is a family-oriented, supportive environment where people work closely together and act as resources for each other". He was called to the Alberta Bar in 2002. Sam affirms that "becoming a lawyer has been a fulfilling experience". He enjoys the fast pace, the variety of legal issues, and working with people to resolve their legal problems.

Sam is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Immigration Subsection. His other areas of practice include Wills and Estates, Real Estate, and Commercial Law.

Currently, his off-duty hours are spent chiefly with Cristina and their sons, Alex and Ryan. Sam is also active in Edmonton's Romanian community, and as a sports enthusiast, he fishes, hikes, camps and plays soccer and tennis. Sam has also embraced the very Canadian pastime of devotedly following NHL hockey.
